Poet R,G. Cantalupo & more to read Sept. 16 in La Canada Flintridge

Moonday East will feature celebrated poet, R.G. Cantalupo, and Washington State poet, Connie Walle, at 2 pm, Sunday, Sept 16th at the beautiful Flintridge Bookstore in La Cañada, hosted this month by Lois P. Jones. The East Side reading occurs on the 3rd Sunday of every month from 2 to 4 pm. There will be a feature and open mic. Come early to sign up for the open reading. R.G. Cantalupo’s work has been published in over a hundred literary journals throughout the United States, Canada, and England. His book of poetry “Say” was a runner-up for the John Ciardi award in poetry. His poetry collections include Walking Water On Earth, The Art of Naming, Involving Residence, Say, and No Thanks. Cantalupo was a two-time Regional Finalist for the American College Theater Festival, and his play “Heart” was presented at the Kennedy Center as a National Finalist. His award-winning memoir The Light Where Shadows End was serialized in the literary journal “War, Literature and the Arts” and was selected for the anthology, Best Non-fiction Essays of the Last 25 Years. Cantalupo is the Artistic Director and founder of The Little Theater in West Los Angeles where he continues to write and direct plays.

Connie Walle residing in Tacoma, Washington, is President and founder of Puget Sound Poetry Connection where she hosts the “Distinguished Writer Series” now in its 23rd year. Connie also founded Our Own Words, a teen writing contest. Her awards include: 1998 Margaret K Williams Award in support of the arts and Washington Poets Association Faith Beamer Cooks Award. A few of her publications include Floating Bridge Press, Raven Chronicle, Tahoma’s Shadow, and Cradle Song.

Flintridge Bookstore and Coffeehouse is located at 1010 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada Flintridge CA 91011, at the intersection of Foothill Blvd. and the Angeles Crest Highway.
